the north bend lake
North Bend Lake covers 305 acres as it meanders up and down the various inlets of the North Fork of Hughes River. The waters stretch from North Bend State Park through and past the Town of Harrisville for 8.1 miles.
The lake has excellent bass, bluegill, crappie, channel catfish and musky fishing and the river downstream of the dam is stocked with trout January, February, March and April.
Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass are under a catch and release regulation, which is evaluated and changed, when necessary to maintain good bass fishing.
The boat launch, canoe launch, two accessible fishing platforms and several fishing access points open the Lake to a variety of activities.
Boat rentals, including canoes, kayaks, Jon boats and pontoons, are available at North Bend Outfitters. Fishing is also available at the North Fork of the Hughes River.
North Bend Lake is part of the North Fork of the Hughes River Watershed Project and has an average permanent pool width of 310 feet and a maximum depth of 36 feet.
The lake was built in 2002 and has an average depth of 12 feet. Boat motors are limited to a maximum of 10 horsepower.
Night fishing is allowed and camping permits can be obtained from the area manager. Live minnows may be used as bait. Visit the North Bend State Park Lodge for information regarding camping permits or call 304.643.2931.
